24-SEPT-2007 RECENT GALA REPORTS

Gala Reports submitted by Liz O'Brien.

Geordie Wotherspoon Memorial Gala On Sunday 16th September 2007 eight swimmers represented Incas in the 9 & under age group. In the individual swims Tain Bruce was first in the freestyle with Suzanne O’Brien and Struan Moodie taking second place in their respective backstroke events. The girls relay team; Suzanne O’Brien, Amy Marshall, Kirsty O’Donnell and Tain Bruce battled their way into third position. Also swimming really well were Andrew Duncan, Lewis Ross and Thomas Witton.

Dunfermline Amateur Swimming Club Friendly Gala.  On Saturday 22nd September 2007 sixteen swimmers from Incas competed in this friendly gala against five other clubs. All the girls and boys swam their socks off and there was hardly an event went by without an Incas swimmer standing on the rostrum. The following swimmers together achieved the trophy for the club with the most points. Those competing were Leighona Harper, Andrew Duncan, Emily Paterson, Struan Moodie, Leah Marshall, Alistair Symonds, Georgina Hutchison, Joe Nally, Erin Brown, Conor Nally, Amber McWhiter, Laura-Kate O’Brien, Amy Marshall, Hayden Moffat, Suzanne O’Brien and Morven Rae-Seaman – WELL DONE TO ALL!

To all those involved the trophy is currently with Emily Paterson. In order to stop the likelihood of it going missing the intention is for each family to keep it for a week then pass it on against a signature. THIS HANDOVER SHOULD HAPPEN EVERY MONDAY NIGHT AT INVERKEITHING. Elizabeth O’Brien will sort out a rota.

Fife Novice League. Congratulations to all those who competed throughout the year in the Fife Novice League for which INCAS won a large shield (so you will need a large mantelpiece). Again to stop the likelihood of it going missing the intention is for each family to keep it for a week then pass it on against a signature. Elizabeth O’Brien will sort out a rota.

Elizabeth O'Brien.

20-SEPT-2007 REMINDER Members are reminded that SUNDAY 23rd September is the last date for payment for the InCAS Sprints Gala.

If you wish to be considered for this event, please ensure you make payment to Pauline Lawson on or before this Sunday.

18-SEPT-2007 WEEKEND GALAS InCAS once again triumphed at the weekend attending the Mags Meet, Grangemouth and the Geordie Wotherspoon Gala at Glenrothes. I have received a report on Mags from Anita. If anyone wishes to submit a report for GW, please forward it to incas@tesco.net

Competing against 18 other clubs, nine InCAS swimmers achieved third place overall for their club at the MAGS meet in Grangemouth on Saturday, narrowly missing out on second place by a single point.

She also took 4th place in 100m backstroke. Also in this age group, Laura-Kate O’Brien achieved 6th place in the 100m freestyle and 6th place in the 100m butterfly.

In the 12 years age group, Ailidh Brown won gold in the 100m backstroke, just missing out on the meet record by 0.73seconds. Ailidh also won silver in the 100m breaststroke, and 4th and 6th places respectively in the 100m freestyle and the 100m butterfly. 14-SEPT-2007 HMS CALEDONIA Garrie was informed this morning that a power supply fault has now effected HMS Caledonia. Training would therefore have had to be cancelled this weekend as a result of this.

It is hoped to have this restored in time for Monday evening training. Please keep up to date by checking this page regularly.

GW GALA It has been necessary to withdrawn both boys & girls 10/12 age group from this event as we cannot provide a full team.

Under 9 boys & girls teams are still expected to attend.

Liz O'brien (Suzanne & Laura-Kate's mum) will be poolside for this event. Warm-up is 300pm at FIPRE, Glenrothes.

11-SEPT-2007 FUTHER CANCELLATIONS We have just been informed this evening by HMS Caledonia that the pool will not be available for InCAS training on SUNDAY 16th September due to a Navy Gala. Regrettably this does now mean that there will be no training for ALL SQUADS this weekend as Saturday 15th September is also cancelled due to a lack of qualified coaching staff.

For those participating at the Mags Meet on Saturday and the Geordie Wotherspoon on Sunday, we all wish you well.

10-SEPT-2007 TRAINING CANCELLATION AND AMENDMENTS We are sorry to announce that training will have to be CANCELLED for ALL SQUADS normally in attendance at HMS Caledonia on SATURDAY 15th SEPTEMBER 2007. This is due to a lack of available, qualified coaching staff.

Training will take place as normal on SUNDAY 16th SEPTEMBER @ HMS Caledonia.

On SUNDAY 23rd & 30th SEPTEMBER and SUNDAY 7th OCTOBER, training will be moved to CARNEGIE LEISURE CENTRE TRAINING POOL at the revised time of 300pm-5.30pm (except 7/10 - 3.30pm start). Squads will be notified of their exact time next week. This change is due to gala events being held at HMS Caledonia.

6-SEPT-2007 BONUS BALL  Please note that the InCAS Bonus Ball Scheme is now being run by Shona Hutchison. At only £1 per week, it is an excellent way to raise funds for the Club and also give you a chance of a small bonus. Shona can be found poolside most weekends. View Bonus Ball page here.
