MIDLOTHIAN MINNOWS PRESS RELEASE

A dozen young InCAS swimmers competed in the annual Midlothian Mini Meet held in Prestonpans on Sunday 29th May.

 

With the age groups of 9 and under; 10 years; 11/12 years InCAS had an excellent day of swimming with 11 year old Tain Bruce taking the top honours once again in the 11/12 years age group. Four swims – four Gold’s – four lifetime bests. Tain’s Gold’s came in the 50m Backcrawl in 37.53;  50m Breastroke 40.91; 50m Fly 34.39 and 50m Frontcrawl 31.28, an excellent days swimming.

 

The boys 9 and under age group saw a tussle between 8 year old Harris Bruce and 9 year old JJ Moultrie –Waring with JJ just coming out on top. The 25m Fly saw Harris win the Gold in 19.96 with JJ second in 19.97 only a hundredth of a second behind. The 25m Backcrawl saw JJ win the Gold in 19.59 with Harris winning the Bronze in 20.14.  JJ went on to win a Silver in the 25mF/C in 18.04 with Harris finishing in 4th place and again a Bronze in the 25m Breastroke 26.04 with Harris in 5th place.

 

The girls 9 and under 4x25m Front Crawl Relay team of Leighona Harper, Millie Knox, Dana Brand and Cara Smyth won a Silver.

 

Other swimmers who performed superbly were in the 9 and under age group, 6 year old Ali Moultrie-Waring,  6 year old Ellie Turner and Lee Harrison. 10 year old age group Rowan Ormiston, Amy Hurst and Kelsey Knox. In the 11/12yrs age group Claire Mitchell and Jack Harrison. Altogether 6 Gold’s, 2 Silver, 2 Bronze, 12 Finalists and an impressive 30 PB’s.

Please note that this Special Meeting has been called so that the annual, audited accounts can be presented.

 

The meeting will be held during the warm-up at the Club Championships and all adult members are encouraged to attend.

ROTHERHAM MEET PRESS RELEASE

Success in Sheffield for InCAS Swimmers

A small party of six InCAS swimmers ventured down to Sheffield over the weekend of 15 & 16 May to compete in the Rotherham Open Age Group Meet at Ponds Forge - the International 50m Pool.

With teams from all over the UK the standard was exceptionally high but what a haul from the Incas swimmers. They returned home with 5 Gold’s,1 Silver and 4 Bronze medals.

Young 10 year old Lauren Pirouet had an excellent weekend with 3 Gold’s, 1 Silver, and 2 Bronzes, and 8 lifetime bests. Lauren’s Gold’s came in the 100m Freestyle (1.10.87); 50m Backstroke (38.45); and 400m Freestyle (5.13.99). She then complimented these with a Silver which came in the 200m backstroke (2.53.57) and her Bronzes in the 100m Backstroke (1.23.42) and 50m Freestyle (33.36). Lauren also achieved a credible 6th place in the 50m Fly (39.02), and just missed out on the Top Girl Award for her age group.


Eleven year old Tain Bruce also enjoyed a good weekends swimming with two Gold’s in the 200m Breastroke in 3.13.82 and 50m Fly in 35.97. Tain also won two Bronze’s, the first in the 200m Individual Medley in a time of 2.48.01 and the second in the 400m Freestyle in 5.13.19. Tain also placed 6th in 100m Fly (1.21.77), and 8th in the 50m Breaststroke (44.51).

In the boy’s 10 Year age group, Joe Nally, swam well to achieve a 4th place in the 50m Fly, just missing out on a Bronze medal. Joe also accredited himself in a busy weekend of swimming in the 50m Backstroke, 200m Backstroke, 50m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke, 200m Breaststroke, achieving a number of personal bests for long course.

 

Meanwhile team mate Hayden Moffat, competing in the 11/12 age group also done himself credit in a number of his events given the strong field of older swimmers, placing a very credible 6th in the 50m Fly, 7th place in the 50m Breaststroke, and an 8th in the 50m Backstroke. Hayden also swam well in the 100m Fly, 100m Breaststroke, 100m Freestyle and is well placed for contesting medal positions in next years competition.

 

In the boy’s 13/14 year age group, Conor Nally competed admirably, against an extremely strong field of talented swimmers. Conor enjoyed a busy weekend with the 50m Backstroke, 50m Freestyle, 100m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, 50m Breaststroke and 50m Fly recording a number of personal bests across the board.

The girls 13/14 years age group saw ‘Veteran’ Kayleigh Hutton competing in her 5th successive year of this popular competition. Kayleigh recorded an 8th place in the 50m Fly in a time of 33.65, and complimented this swim with good times in the 100m Freestyle, 100m Backstroke, 50m Backstroke, 200m IM, and finished the weekend with a 200m Freestyle.

Altogether a fantastic weekend of swimming against some of the best in Britain, with the Club finishing 13th out of 42, a remarkable achievement for such a small contingent competing this prestigious national competition.

We have been informed HMS Caledonia shall be closed on Monday 31 May due to a Bank Holiday. As such there shall be no Training for those squads who attend HMS Caledonia on Monday evenings.

FIFE LEAGUES - DUTY CLUB

As a requirement of the Fife Novice & Leagues, each Club undertakes a session throughout the course as Duty Club to assist in the running of the meet. InCAS are the Duty Club for the morning session of the next Meets on the 12 June 2010. As such we require 5 volunteers to undertake a number of roles, as described on the Duty Requirements. Please liaise with a Committee Member to volunteer your services.

HMS CALEDONIA RE-OPENED

We have been advised HMS Caledonia has re-opened and is available for training purposes. The first training session shall therefore commence on Thursday evening at 5.00pm for Youth National Squads upwards. Details of the Training Schedule shall be posted and circulated in the near future.

As a reminder valid Passes to the Base shall be required by all adults. You should therefore ensure your pass is valid and renew as required. Similarly, all child swimmers are afforded access under the supervision of an adult with a valid pass. Should your pass be expired, please arrange for your child to be escorted to the pool by an adult with a valid pass. Hopefully, we can resume a normal training schedule as soon as possible.

Once again many thanks for your patience during this period of inconvenience which has been totally outwith the control of InCAS.

InCAS DISTANCE MEET REPORT

The Annual InCAS Distance Meet was held at the Kirkcaldy Swimming Pool over Saturday and Sunday, 1st and 2nd of May. With twenty teams from all over Scotland competing the programme was oversubscribed with quite a number of rejections. With a chance for younger swimmers to achieve their Bronze or Silver Squad times the Distance Meet incorporates 200m of each stroke with 200m IM, 400m IM, 400m Front Crawl 800m Front Crawl and 1500m Front Crawl making the competition very exciting.

 

A handful of young Incas swimmers made an exciting and very successful weekend of swimming for the host club. Top InCAS swimmer by a mile was 10 year old Lauren Pirouet winning 5 Gold’s; 1 Silver; 1 Meet Record and Top 10 years and under Female Award. Lauren's Gold’s came in the 200m Back Stroke in 2.51.59, 200m Front Crawl 2.31.35, 200m IM 2.59.02, 400m Front Crawl 5.13.30 and 800m Front Crawl in 10.34.83, also a Meet Record. Lauren also won a Silver in the 200m Breastroke in 3.30.00. All of Lauren's swims were lifetime bests.

 

Team mate 11 year old Tain Bruce also had an excellent weekend swimming in the girls 11/12yrs age group winning Gold in the 200m Breastroke in 3.05.43 and Bronzes in the 400m Front Crawl in 5.04.72, 200m IM 2.44.84, and 400m IM in 5.41.51. Also winning a 4th placed medal in the 800m Front Crawl.

 

The girls 13/14yrs age group saw 13 year old Erin Brown have a fantastic swim in the 200m Breastroke to win Gold in 2.58.86, a superb personal best.. The boys 10 and under age group saw 10 year old Joe Nally win a Silver in the 1500m Front Crawl, a 4th in the 400m Front Crawl and a 6th place medal in the 200m Breastroke with team mate 8 year old Harris Bruce storming home to win a 5th placed medal in the 200m Front Crawl.

 

The girls 11/12yrs age group saw 12 year old Emily Paterson win a 4th place in the 200m Front Crawl and team mate 11 year old Morven Rae-Seaman also win a 4th place in the 200m Backstroke.

 

The boys 13/14yrs age group saw 13 year old Conor Nally have an outstanding weekend although only winning a 6th place in the 1500m Front Crawl his seven swims knocked huge amounts from his previous best times.

 

The girls 13/14yrs age group saw 14 year old Kayleigh Hutton win a 5th place in the 200m Front Crawl and a 6th place in the 400m Front Crawl.

 

Other swimmers who achieved Personal Best's were 13 yearr old Gabby Gatherer,11 year old Hayden Moffat and 10 year old Jack Harrison.

 

Altogether 7 Golds,1 Silver,3 Bronzes, 21 Finalists and a fantastic 35 lifetime bests.

 

A huge thank you to all the parents and helpers who made this competition so successful.
