Another
successful weekend for InCAS – young and old!
New Scottish Records for Master swimmers
InCAS swimmers were hugely successful this weekend at 3 different
events.
Three INCAS Masters swimmers competed in the Scottish Open Masters
Championships at the Tollcross International Pool in Glasgow on
Friday/Saturday 25th/26th April.
What a haul of medals - 6 Gold, 3 Silver, 1 Bronze and two Scottish
Records.
Craig Holmes was outstanding winning 4 Golds, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze
with two new Scottish Records.
Craig’s Golds came in the 50m Butterfly in a new Scottish Record
of 26.56 and 100m Butterfly in 1.00.33 - again a new Scottish
Record. The 50m Backstroke gave Craig his 3rd Gold in 28.97 just
outside the record and finally his 4th Gold in the 100m Backstroke
in 1.02.10. His Silver came in the 200m Backstroke and his Bronze in
the 50m Freestyle.
In the older category Royal Navy sailor Paul Woodland, competing in
his first competition for four years, swam a brilliant 100m
Breastroke to knock 14 seconds from his previous lifetime best to
win Silver.
Ever-young 50 year old Andrea Gellan also swam superbly winning two
Golds in the 200m Freestyle in 2.51.37 and 800m Freestyle in
12.24.92. She also won Silver in the 100m Freestyle.
Altogether an outstanding weekend for these INCAS Masters.
At the other end of the club, 4 young swimmers aged 8 and 9
travelled to Larkhall to compete in the Falkirk Otters meet. They
had 14 swims between them and landed 1 Gold, 4 Silvers, and 3 sixth
place finished.
Eight year old Lauren Pirouet won Gold in the 50m Backstroke; Silver
in the 50 m Freestyle; and was sixth in the 50m Butterfly.
Nine year old Tain Bruce picked up 3 silver medals – one in each
50 m Freestyle, Butterfly and Backstroke.
Amy Marshall and Morven Rae-Seaman each picked up sixth place medals
for their 50 m Breaststroke and Backstroke respectively.
A successful day for the young swimmers.
On Sunday InCAS held their annual Club Championships at HMS
Caledonia. Around 60 swimmers from age 5 to 50 competed throughout
the day. When the final points are added up we’ll find out who are
the champions. But of course, they are all champions for competing!
