SUCCESS |
Weekend
Success for InCAS Swimmers
Saturday saw a small number of young Incas swimmers compete in
the Junior Age Group meet at Grangemouth with some of them
swimming in their first real gala and against clubs from
across Scotland.
Conor Crabb in the 8 and under boys age group - and in his
first ever gala - wanted to go home before the warm up.
However, after a few words with his coach he competed
tremendously well achieving five lifetime bests from five
swims. His twin sister Isla, also in her first gala, and only
swimming in the 100m Individual Medley, knocked over twenty
seconds from her previous best.
Young 7 year old Suzanne O'Brien achieved a 4th place medal in
the 8 and under age group 25m Butterfly and achieved 3
lifetime bests during the day.
The girls 9 years age group saw Morven Rae-Seaman also swim
exceptionally well achieving 4 life time bests from four
swims. Morven won a sixth place medal for her performance in
the 50m freestyle. Team-mate Tain Bruce was only swimming in
one race - the 100m Individual Medley. She swam ‘too fast’
for the graded meet, leaving the rest of the field behind by
half a length and knocking over 20 seconds from her previous
personal best. Tain went home with a trophy to mark her
‘speeding ticket’.
Sunday saw a slightly larger group compete in the Carnegie
Graded Meet held at the Carnegie Leisure Centre. Fifteen year
old Donald Griffiths won 3 Golds in the 100m backstroke, 100m
Fly and 100m front crawl. He also won a Silver in the OPEN
